Lover
Lover is an Australian fashion label launched in 2001 by designers Susien Chong and Nic Brand. The label has quickly risen in prominence internationally, developing a loyal following from Vogue to Rolling Stone, Nicole Kidman to Kirsten Dunst. Since its inception at a humble market stall, the creative couple have taken their label and have firmly established it as an influential 'one to watch' brand. Their combined talents in fashion and graphic design, mixed with their individual tastes - one romantic and ethereal, the other loud and irreverent -have created a line that remains true to its signature style and ideals. Lover's collections draw upon various inspirations from the world of art, music, film and pop culture. Each collection "has a narrative and central character", say the duo, "that brings a unique personality to each piece of clothing we design". Each collection is named after an individual or theme, and have so far included Marianne Faithfull, early Woody Allen heroines, the French muses from Jean Luc Goddard's early films, and Meg White. Lover's look embodies "romance, drama and a touch of rock and roll swagger". Vintage-inspired dresses, romantic lace blouses, oversize blazers and slouchy shorts and trousers are all signature looks.
